Most of my overseas acquaintances see Japan’s atmosphere favorably. Large cities such as Tokyo and Osaka may conjure up images of a crowded, polluted environment. When you think about Japan, you may picture a crowd of people crossing the world-famous Shibuya crossing or a train compartment packed with businesspeople. That’s probably correct… 

But I’d like to inform you about a few characteristics of Japanese culture. Most streets, for example, are normally clean (even in densely populated areas). People seldom see garbage on highways and sidewalks. There is also a lot of magnificent environment in the countryside, such as verdant woods and rice fields. Rivers, falls, and beaches may be found in certain rural locations. My overseas friends remark on how much they like them.
